pig

original: http://www.fotosearch.com/FSD357/x13266905/

aaaaaah

.

A digital painting of a pig staring up at you with a blank gaze. I used another photo (look at the above URL) as a reference for the painting. I used various colours that I believed made the painting more interesting.

Piglets are adorable.

CD Cover - PANDA HERO

Someplace on the outskirts of town
Wires and lead pipes and junk all around
Yellow dartboards decorated with syringes
And a crappy glove on a makeshift home-base

If you're in a jam you can call him any time
Out there in the field circled by power lines
Chaotic vigilante, he answers to no man
Here to save the land with a metal bat in hand

Radios that spit out static and white noise
Flashing neon lights of Playboy bunny girls
For his help he'll ask for a collateral
Opium from a poppy will be all

Go up to him and say "I ask this of you please"
Take a step back and present the opium seed
There's his voice in an easy going rumble
And there's nowhere for you to go now

Pa-pa-pa-ra-pa-pa-pa-ra-pa!
That smokey haze and bags under his eyes
Pa-pa-pa-ra-pa-pa-pa-ra-pa!
Let's all make way for our pinch-hitter!
Pa-pa-pa-ra-pa-pa-pa-ra-pa!
It's really him, the Panda Hero!
Pa-pa-pa-ra-pa-pa-pa-ra-pa!
So long to our opponent's killer liner!

Well then.

First original images:

Lineart for the image focal. A character of mine named Drake Locke-Romero from a long ongoing set of stories I've written... Also, the artist/band name is fictional.

Giant rubber duck and a shot of a lion. They're png files to preserve transparency.

And our floor plan from the background. The buildings were done via photoshop brushes.

I really enjoyed doing this assignment; it was something that felt like it was really in our personal interests (us an in the students) and not something that wouldn't be in our general interest (voting poster...). I was aiming for a somewhat indie rock feel for the album, but something with it's own unique flare. The actual song PANDA HERO (composed by a amateur composer whose net handle I can't quite remember, and the vocals were done by a synthesizer program called VOCALOID) is about a star local baseball player who is known as a hero to other players. However, as good as he is his choices and personal interests aren't exactly the best. In the literal translation for the lyrics it really says "black and white hero". This is supposed to mean a hero who is neither good nor evil. That explains why the album/single title is black and white, as are the character's colour palatte (white/near white skin, dark circles under his eyes... Like a panda!).

Since the song's setting is also in a junkyard of sorts in an urban environment I went with a very grunge-like theme. At the same time it's sort of like a battleground or wild place, which explains the lion and rubber duck (lion for dominance of the hero, rubber duck the inferior players asking for help). The floor plans were used to attribute to the grunge theme as were the buildings to the urban setting. All around our hero are rays of light shooting forth to emphasize he is our hero as well as our focal point. The beaten up rag tied around his neck and rough looking clothes are also to emphasize the fact that although he is a hero, he isn't exactly overflowing with rainbows and goodness.

triptych assignment

Because when there isn't much crap to take pictures of I just say screw it and just find something similar to.. Other things.

Like all my assignments this was done on a whim. There is no real process behind this besides "oh I could use that" and take a picture. Also, I hate photography.
As for the design process when taken into photoshop, I just cropped the images how they just.. looked best. To me that is. I tried to follow the rule of thirds for the two and I don't know what happened to the first one since now looking at it... Equal halves. What?
High contrast was another thing, as was texture. I wanted the colours in the images to have a similar feel with one another but honestly I still feel that purple is somewhat out of place. While I wanted to make the image subjects not incredibly obvious I wanted it to have some clarity too. You can see all of them have plants (well I sure hope you do).
Oh, that's it. No walls of text here, nope, not at all.

Also cool original photos go;

Mini stick people!!!
Such a silly idea indeed, making a world entirely up of people of all colours.
Then again doesn't that sound like reality too?

Also stick people.
Not much more to say here.

a super late assignment

Loosely inspired by:
http://youtu.be/f7QOoviO-co

Don't you think poetry is like an apple? Sweet, bitter and can be poisonous at the same time?

Thats basically the thought process behind this, idea wise.

It's hard to explain this any other way, plus I forgot most of what I had in mind for this reflection (teehee). Maybe the girl in the picture just wants to tell us something? Her feelings? What's bothering her?

I felt grunge stocks/textures would work well for this and the subtle lighting has a nice effect, but that's just me.

Photojournalism

Regarding the first part of the assignment:

I believe that there should be a set of rules news photographers should go by. For one randomly sniping photographs of celebs should be ruled out if they don't want said pictures up. Another thing is reporting articles of private issues that would otherwise be kept secret from the media if they weren't all over it. Only when they receive consent for using said shots or even taking them in the first place is when it would be okay.

Ghetto photoshop and flowers

The first two are for the Mobile assignment and the last one is just cool. I don't want to upload the other flower pictures because they'll take aeons to open in photoshop and resave as .jpgs then proceed to upload here. Slow PCS are slooow.
First flower: Rosemary
Second flower: Mint

Photos and Portraits and Skittles

Okay so uh

Enslaving Beckman and Siefred for pictures leads to this! And of course Beckman transformed into an explosion of colours and fabulousness. Siefred on the other hand just had to be all smug face black and white like. Text was added to add to it!

My inspiration for this is well.. Next to nonexistent. I took a picture of Siefred cause I was all "hey Jimmy smug face with hand on chin GO" and then Beckman just happened to be passing by so I grabbed a (really random) picture of him. Haha. I like the black and white picture more of the pair because I felt the composition worked out more. The colour picture would've turned out better had I used CS3 and my tablet at home since Photoshop 5 (I think that's the version of PS these computers have) is really limited and it doesn't help the PCs are really slow and tend to freeze up. Seriously why haven't these been replaced yet?

So yeah that's about it. I think I did better this time round then with the last project, simply because I didn't have to manipulate photos of landscapes. Haha.

Photo manipulation project... Thing

God.

About time I got around to doing it, as rushed as it is.
Reflection and all will be done in a few, need to zergrush a page for comm tech AND my religion reflection, fml.

Look at all the purple!

EDIT:

 Reflection time go

The picture's name is Purple Rhapsody. Purple for it of course being made up of purples/violets, rhapsody, as taken from the dictionary, is "an ecstatic expression of feeling or enthusiasm."

I only used three images for this, one being the waterfall as well as the accompanying scenery, the moon and lastly the earth. I wanted to create something like a foreign land, a fantasy almost. A place where you could look up and go "oh hey there's our neighbours". Of course I didn't have the patience to do something super special awesome, but something is better then nothing. Colour balance was my best friend in this as well as my cloud brushes... But besides that I am rather disappointed in this. Not only because I suck at image manipulation, but since we got it for our first assignment.

Messing around with actual pictures of people is way easier man.

The WIP sketch:

and the finished CG:
Shiny with a transparent bg!

This here actually lead me striking a commission deal with the owner of a particular MMORPG site. As much hype as it earned me and all I need to finish ffffin event prizes at said site too and then I'll get right on that shit. One hundred themes will be more of a side thing so yeah.

This blog is required for my media arts class but hey, I always wanted to make a blog for lolart stuff. MIGHT AS WELL USE IT!

... Now time to figure out how2customize.

First post awyeuh

1. Are you excited about this course and why?
Not really, its just grade 12 art take 2 with crappy PCs and with more annoying installations.

2. Do you agree to uphold the Studio Rules that were distributed?
Sure why not.
